Ok now that we have had our school lesson… we all know that boxed wines like merlot, and zinfandel are not good,  but dont give up on boxed wine all together next time you have a group of people over go to the liquor store and look for a boxed wine tha says Côtes du Rhône

Dtour 2004 Côtes-du-Rhône (France), $37 (3-liter tube)

A spicy, inviting nose, redolent of cherries and with a subtle note of Provençal herbs. Warm, ripe, cherry fruit in the mouth.

Chemin des Papes (Red ) Côtes-du-Rhône (France), $35 (3-liter box)

The main grape varieties in this blend are Grenache and syrah. Grenache provides the fruit and roundness while the syrah brings structure, complexity and colour. This wine is ready to drink now and is ideal with salads, grilled meats, pizza, pasta and cheeses.
